PHOTO STANDARDS

KOBAULT recommends using Lightroom Classic CC.

INSTALLATION

Open Lightroom Classic, import, and select a photo. Enter the Develop tab and locate the Presets section in the left panel. Expand the section and click "Add new Presets" then "Import Presets". Navigate to the stored location for each category of preset. Select all the presets and select import. Repeat for each category.

USAGE GUIDELINES

Unlike typical presets, the KOBAULT Styles Presets operate by modifying the Tone Curves, HSL, Color Grade wheels, and Calibration, but not any basic correction, local adjustments, or details, thus allowing the presets to work on a wider range of photos. This is also done to allow for fast and efficient processing of RAW photos.

Begin by completing the basic correction adjustments in the Basic panel.

Initial adjustments should include exposure compensation and white balance.

Adjust highlights down and shadows up to create an HDR effect. Adjust the white and black levels to correct for tone and each end of the histogram. Then adjust contrast and presence to preference.

Often, the Lightroom "Auto" correction is sufficient, though White Balance must still be adjusted.

Select a preset from the panel and make final adjustments as desired. KOBAULT recommends adding a negative vignette and adjusting specific portions of interest in the image using Lightroom's AI-based masking tools.

Any KOBAULT Styles Preset may be used on any image. Preset categories are given as guidelines. See recommended preset applications below.

This location contains two folders: Input and Output. Premiere Pro uses LUTs stored in the Input folder for this operation: Modify > Color > Input LUT.

LUTs stored in the Input folder also appear in Lumetri Color > Settings > Source Clip > Input LUT.

You can also create the following folders to store LUTs:

C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\LUTs\Creative

LUTs stored here appear in Lumetri Color > Creative > Look.

C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\LUTs\Technical

LUTs stored here appear in Lumetri Color > Basic Correction > Input LUT.

USAGE GUIDELINES

Unlike typical LUTs, the KOBAULT Styles LUTs operate by modifying the Tone Curves, HSL, Color Grade wheels, and Calibration, but not any basic correction, local adjustments, or details, thus allowing the presets to work on a wider range of photos. This is also done to allow for fast and efficient processing of color correction for varied timelines.

Begin by completing the basic adjustments in the Basic Correction panel.

Initial adjustments should include exposure compensation and white balance.

Adjust highlights down and shadows up to create an HDR effect. Adjust the white and black levels to correct for tone and each end of the histogram. Then adjust contrast to preference.

Often, the Lumetri "Auto" correction is sufficient, though White Balance may still need to be adjusted.

Open the Creative panel and select a LUT from the Looks dropdown. Modify the Intensity slider and make final adjustments as desired. KOBAULT recommends adding a negative vignette with an adjustment layer and adjusting specific portions of interest in the image using tracked masks.

KOBAULT Styles LUTs are formatted based on camera sensor manufacturer and include Canon, Sony, Panasonic, DJI, and GoPro. A Generic set is also included. It is recommended that the LUT be applied to the respective sensor. GoPro and Insta360 LUTs are cross compatible if recorded in GoPro Protune or Insta360 Pro mode.

Any KOBAULT Styles LUT may be used on any image. Preset categories are given as guidelines. See recommended preset applications below.
